3D Nintendo Console Coming Soon - Entertainment - Video Games

Come March 2011, Nintendo fans worldwide will have something new to play with - The Nintendo 3DS.

Japan's electronic giant, Nintendo, revealed that the 3DS will be pitted against consoles by gaming industry big names like Microsoft and Sony.

The major selling feature of the Nintendo 3DS, a handheld video game console, is that it is capable of coming up with 3D images even without the use of any 3D glasses. Since it is handheld, you can expect it to be highly portable and easy-to-carry anywhere, anytime of the day.

Many people are already excited, there are many queries on how much the device would cost, although no formal announcement had been made. However, announcement of the details to the public is set for June 2010 in Los Angeles, during this year's E3 videogame convention, where it will also be put on display.

Nintendo's 3D DS Console will be launching on the back of their currently popular DS Console series. The DS was released to the general public in 2004, and has been a huge seller ever since. Incredibly, the DS Console has sold a massive 125 Million Units. You might be wondering if you can still play your DS Games on the 3DS - well the answer is yes.

The ability to play DS Games on the new 3DS is a smart move from Nintendo, and has been done to keep fans loyal. Nintendo have some stiff competition and it's no wonder they have done this, especially considering the massive competition coming from Apple's iPhone

A good reason for the growing interest in the 3DS is the release of James Cameron's Avatar. This movie used special projection equipment, along with Polarized 3D Glasses that viewers wore to create the 3D Effect.

Other manufacturers are following in the footsteps of 3D vision, by bringing it into people's homes. Television manufacturers such as Samsung are already offering 3D Television sets, complete with 3D Glasses, for sale.

Although other game console makers like Sony are also planning to come out with devices that can work well with 3D games, like its PlayStation 3 consoles, it is Nintendo's 3D portable game console which stands out because of its unique feature of "no special glasses" needed in order to enjoy the lifelike images that it creates.

The mystery 'technology' behind Nintendo's 3D vision has still not been revealed. It will be exciting to see exactly what Nintendo come up with in this area, as it will surely knock the socks off current portable gaming competitors.
